Frinsa del Noroeste reduces greenhouse gas emissions with XBEE

Frinsa is one of the largest European manufacturers of canned tuna and shellfish. Founded in 1961, they produce top-quality canned products, meeting the expectations of their customers in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way.

In 2008, the Spanish company Frinsa del Noroeste decided to evaluate the XBEE Enzyme Fuel Technology. The power generators of Frinsa del Noroeste are two Wärtsilä 8SWR80 of 9.5 mW each. The HFO 380 is stored in four large tanks with a total capacity of 750 m³.

The company bunkers every day several trucks for a yearly consumption of 16,000 tons of heavy fuel oil.

The accredited laboratory Dekra measured a baseline on November 19, 2008. The power plant started using XBEE a week later. Dekra performed another measurement campaign on May 15, 2009 _ after six months of regular use of the XBEE technology.

Both reducing greenhouse gas emissions campaigns have been measured and controlled by the accredited laboratory Dekra.
