In order to better respect the environment, as well as to prepare its ships for compliance with future international standards on pollutant gas emissions, Moradiña decided in December 2006 to start operation with the XBEE diesel cleaner.
The company selected the largest vessel in its fleet for the test, the trawler Playa de Sartaxens. This vessel has a length of 74 metres and has been operating in the Falklands – Falkland Islands fishing grounds for the last two years.
Recent measurements carried out on board ships operating with the XBEE diesel cleaner have shown a reduction of -23% in CO2 emissions, the most greenhouse gas.
“In view of the results obtained through this experience, the group is counting on the progressive extension of the XBEE fuel to all its ships”.
