MaK – Caterpillar officially recommends using XBEE

April 2003, Caterpillar engineers of the Research and Development department have tested the XBEE Enzyme Fuel Technology and its effects on the fuel.

The experiment has been operated on a 6M25 engine in compliance with the norm ISO 3046 and burning Marine Diesel Oil. Gas emissions have been measured with equipment and methods in compliance with the norm ISO 8178 after only 15 hours of work.

Diesel engine efficiency improvements with XBEE

Malte Rautenstrauch, Senior Test Engineer and Head of Engine Development and Testing at MaK Caterpillar, has tested XBEE Enzyme Fuel Technology and observed the results mentioned here.

Accordingly, Caterpillar has issued a letter of recommendation. In this document they affirm XBEE‘s ability to improve diesel engine efficiency and preserve the environment.

The test engine, an M25 medium speed type, has been tested for all relevant operating data and at the same measuring points first without and then with its XBEE additive.

The evaluation showed considerable improvements at all measuring points (see test records), which was a very positive surprise for us.

We assume that possible carbon deposits will be considerably reduced with this additive and that maintenance intervals could be extended due to the reduction of the amount of soot particles (up to 40%) within the exhaust gases.

We could not observe any damage to the engine when mixing this additive with diesel.

For our part we do not see any problem for the use of Xbee with all our engines and therefore issue a general statement for its use.

We believe that by using this fuel additive with diesel engines the performance characteristics of the engines will improve considerably. Due to the reduced emissions there will also be a positive effect for the environment.

Therefore, we can recommend our customers to use this fuel additive
